Virgin Mobile halves GSM call rates

Youth focused mobile service brand Virgin Mobile India today introduced today announced the launch of local its new local calling pack for Rs45 for its GSM subscribers that offers calls to any local number at 1paise for 2 seconds.

The pack comes with a validity of 30 days and is available across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Orissa, Mumbai and Maharashtra circles.

The benefits of this pocket friendly pack will be available to Virgin Mobile users on both minute and second billing profiles.

''Our research shows that youth have a high propensity to talk more and are always on the lookout for innovative budget solutions to address their mobility needs," said Madhusudan Mandyam, CEO, Virgin Mobile India.

"This pack is specially designed for Indian youth who are on per-second tariff, giving them a leeway to make local calls for longer duration without burning a hole in their pockets.''

As India's only national youth focused brand, Virgin Mobile aims to extend its objective of helping youth leverage and use the power of their network of friends with this new offering on its GSM network.

Consumers on per minute tariff are offered a differentiated tariff proposition of 20p per minute for STD and local calls to any Virgin Mobile number. Virgin Mobile customers calling any other network will be charged at 40p per minute for local and 50p per minute for STD calls.
