Saudi Arabia has most Twitter users: report

Saudi Arabia is the country with the maximum Twitter penetration and the highest number of active monthly users of the micro blogging site, a new study has revealed.

The West Asian kingdom has been ranked number one Twitter user with a third of the country's online population active monthly users of the site - a penetration of 33 per cent based on the total number of internet users.

According to Mashable, the study considered active Twitter users as those who tweet, rather than the micro-blogging site's metric of those who log in to the service.

The US, the home of the microblogging platform, ranked eighth on the list of top 10 countries with the highest Twitter penetration.

With countries like India, Nigeria, and Germany having only 1 per cent of their online population active on Twitter, India ranked among the lowest twitters on the popular micro-blogging site.
