Tata Tele signs up Sania Mirza as brand ambassador

Tata Teleservices (TTSL) has signed up tennis player Sania Mirza as its brand ambassador and has launched the signature series of handsets, Sania Fone.

Earlier Tata Tele had roped in Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly also as a brand ambassador and launched a similar signature Sourav Fone.

Prabhat Pani, chief operating officer (Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka), Tata Teleservices addressing a press meet said, "The limited edition of signature series of Sania Fone and Sourav Fone handsets are supported by cricket and tennis content like wallpapers, ringtones, live cricket scores, news and contests that provide the customers an opportunity to meet the personality associated with the handset."

Sania Mirza has signed a one-year extendable contract, with Tata Teleservices and is likely to appear on the television commercials of the brand.

The Sania Fone is priced ay Rs4,999, while the Sourav Fone is priced at Rs2,449.

The company is expanding its presence to over 1,000 more towns in the next 12-18 months and has a customer-base of over three million across the country.

The Tata group has already invested Rs9,000 crore in the telecom sector and will invest an additional Rs9,000 crore in the next couple of years to used for additional expansion plans.

" According to Pani, "At present we have a presence in 1,000 towns in 20 circles. We are looking at expanding our operations to another 1,000 towns in the next 12-18 months. In Andhra Pradesh, we are present in 215 towns and will be expanding operations to another 10 towns by the end of this March," he said.
