Trent sets up Star Bazaar in Bangalore

Bangalore: Tata Group's retail arm Trent Ltd. Has announced the launch of its hypermarket chain Star Bazaar in Bangalore.

Star Bazaar spans a huge spread of 75,000 sq ft, and offers products across various product categories, ranging from apparel and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) to food products, footwear, and kitchen and home products.

According to Neeti Chopra, Marketing Head at Trent Ltd, the expansion plans for Star Bazaar will be focussed on the West and South of India, at least for now.

Trent Ltd has three retail formats - Westside, Landmark, and Star Bazaar --- with a current retail presence of 28 Westside stores, 3 Star Bazaar stores, and 10 Landmark stores.

According to reports, the company's total income for 2006-07 was around Rs631.86 crore, with a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs33.2 crore. According to Chopra, the company is confident of being able to maintain the 30 to 35 per cent growth in revenues for this financial year as well.
