Reliance digital, the consumer durables and information technology arm of Reliance Retail, today announced its sales tie-up with Reva Electric Car Company (RECC), manufacturer of India's first electric car, for retailing its electric cars through Reliance digital outlets across the country. This tie up further expands the geographical footprint for Reva in the country.
Reva will be available at Reliance digital at Hyderabad and Delhi NCR in the initial phase. Later this initiative will be extended to other cities.
Reliance says this initiative by Reliance digital is an attempt to promote the environment-friendly car Reva by bringing about social and environmental awareness amongst its customers.
Speaking on the occasion, R Chandramouli, president, sales and marketing for RECC said, "The tie up offers a synergy as REVA car is a clean, green, technology product that is also Plug and use, like the products sold through the Reliance Digital stores. The Reva will deliver a greater driving experience, reduce pollution and meet the needs of city driving for the people of Hyderabad in a cost effective way."
Announcing the tie up, Ajay Baijal, president and chief executive, Reliance digital said "We are extremely buoyant with this tie up as it would be an unique initiative which would be a first of its kind where in a technology retailer would move beyond its regular frontiers to promote and sell a forward looking technology which would support the cause of a safer and a Greener tomorrow in the automotive arena. REVAi, the current model of REVA, is an electric vehicle that is best suited for inner city mobility. It is an automatic, easy to drive and park, has a range of 80 kilometers and a maximum speed of 80 km/h.
One of the key advantages of the REVAi is that it has zero emissions and is very quiet. This initiative by Reliance digital is an attempt to promote an environmentally-friendly car REVA thereby bringing about social and environmental awareness amongst its customers.
