Canon launches new products

New Delhi: Canon India has announced the launch of 35 new state-of-the-art consumer digital imaging products. The company said it plans to focus on retail business, by launching new products and enhancing its brand appeal in the Indian market, as part of an expansion strategy for India. Canon India is reportedly looking at a turnover of Rs 800 crore by next year. Marketing and promotional campaigns will see the company spend around Rs 100 crore at the regional and national level, and will involve cricket star Sachin Tendulkar. Canon India is also reported to be expanding its distribution chain and is planning on opening six new exclusive showrooms by June 2008. Additionally, three new outlets catering to business equipment are in the offing, and will help building the brand, according to Canon India vice-president Alok Bharadwaj. Bhardwaj said the company has in place tie-ups with 13 organised retailers such as Reliance, Croma, Big Bazaar, Jumbo, Metro, Home Solutions, Staples, and the number is likely to grow to 20 sometime next year. Canon India has 1,200 points of sale for its digital cameras and 2,500 for its printers. The new products with more features and concepts include digital cameras, camcorders, printers, scanners, SLR cameras and projectors.
