Iran develops new type of ballistic missile

Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has taken delivery of a new type of surface-to-surface missile (SSM) with stealth features, Iranian news services said Sunday.
"The new surface-to-surface missiles, Qiyam (Resurrection) 1, were successfully tested and delivered to the armed forces today," the government-controlled al-Alam network said.
Referring to the detailed features and specifications of the new ballistic missile, Iranian defence minister, Ahmad Vahidi said that Qiyam-1 is the country's first finless missile.
The minister added that the very special design of the missile makes its detection by radars and air defence systems difficult.
He said that omission of the fins from the design has increased the velocity of the missile and also shortened the launch time.
The report did not reveal the range of the missiles but said they were developed with stealth features.
