New Delhi: Qatar Airways has revealed that the central Indian city of Nagpur will become the airline's newest Indian destination this summer, with the airline scheduling non-stop services from its operational hub of Doha, capital of the State of Qatar.

The airline will operate an Airbus A320 on the Nagpur route in a two-class configuration of 12 business class and 132 economy class seats.

Qatar Airways currently operates 30 flights a week between Qatar and five cities across India. While it operates seven flights a week to Delhi, Mumbai and Trivandrum it operates four flights a week to Hyderabad and five flights a week to Cochin.

Qatar Airways chief executive officer, Akbar Al Baker, said that as Nagpur was an unknown destination on the global map, with few airlines serving the industrial city, there was incredible potential on the route. Al Baker was speaking at a press conference in New Delhi.

Al Baker also praised the Indian government for taking positive steps towards a more liberal approach in opening up the aviation industry and encouraging greater international competition.
