New Delhi: Jet Airways may be the first airline in the country to increase fuel surcharge on its tickets to counter rising jet fuel price. With a hike of Rs50, the total fuel bill in an air ticket will go up to Rs950.

While Jet Airway CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauer has informed media persons that an increase in the surcharge would become applicable from 3 July, both Kingfisher and Air Deccan are also upping their fuel surcharge by a similar amount from 4 July.

While some others are adopting a wait and watch attitude, it is agreed that a hike in fuel surcharge will take place across the industry.

Lat time such a hike had taken place was in May, when it went up by Rs150 to Rs900.

With effect from July 1, ATF prices in Delhi were increased to Rs37,799.54 per kilo litre from Rs36,746.53 per kl. In Mumbai, the prices went up by Rs1,088.56 per kl to Rs39,062.46 per kl.
