AgustaWestland has announced signing a contract with the Andhra Pradesh state government for the sale of one AW139 medium twin turbine engine helicopter to be used for executive transport missions.

This latest purchase by the Andhra Pradesh government takes AgustaWestland's tally of AW139s ordered by various customers in India to five.

AgustaWestland has thus far delivered on almost half of the 20 commercial helicopters ordered by government and corporate customers in India.

Other state governments already flying AgustaWestland choppers include Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

The company has established a product support service base in India, and has appointed Indian company, OSS Air, as an official AgustaWestland Service Centre to provide spares support and maintenance services for its range of commercial helicopters.

AgustaWestland attributes its movement in the Indian market to the excellent characteristics of its commercial products in terms of performance, safety, operational availability and serviceability. Operational conditions in India are often extreme, from the heat and dust of Rajasthan to the extreme altitudes, cold and inclement weather found in Jammu & Kashmir.

A favourite in the medium twin class, the AW139's success in the world market continues to grow. The helicopter is used across a number of applications including VIP/corporate transport, offshore transport, SAR/EMS, law enforcement, utility and other government tasks.

AgustaWestland says orders for over 350 AW139 helicopters have been placed by over 100 customers in almost 40 countries so far.
