New Delhi: The government has granted a status of mini-ratna category-I to the Airport Authority of India (AAI).  The decision was conveyed by the Department of Public Enterprises, ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, to the ministry of civil aviation.

AAI fulfills the criteria laid down for grant of mini-ratna category-I status relating to continuous profit for last three years and positive net worth.

The AAI will be able to exercise its mini-ratna powers after its board is restructured through the induction of at least three non-official directors.
