New Hyd'bad, B'lore airports entitled to levy development fees for six months

New Delhi: The government may consider a reduction in user development fees (UDF) to be charged by developers of the Bangalore and Hyderabad greenfield airports only six months after operations commence, according to officials of the civil aviation ministry.

Under articles of the concession agreement, developers of both the airports are legally entitled to levy development fees on international and domestic passengers on their own for a period of six months, government officials have clarified.

While developers of the new Hyderabad airport have decided to charge $22 per international passenger, they have exempted all fees for domestic travellers.

Developers of the Bangalore airport are yet to announce their levies.
