Rs137-cr up-gradation work on Lucknow airport set to commence

Lucknow: The Airport Authority of India (AAI) is all set to start construction of the Rs137-crore integrated terminal building, which will handle domestic and international flights at the Lucknow airport.

Brahamaputra Consortium Ltd, a Delhi-based agency, is the designated contractor for the project and is expected to operate on an 18-month deadline.

According to airport director, SD Awasthi, the integrated terminal will have modern facilities, comparable to any airport in the country. He said that cyber cafes, ATMs and restaurants would be set up soon. He also mentioned that work on up-gradation of the apron area had began, which would allow the airport to accommodate more aircraft at a time.

AAI is also contemplating a proposal to increase the runway length, incraesing it by an additional 2,000 feet, from 9,000 to 11,000 feet.
