Air India joins fare war with IndiGo, SpiceJet to offer tickets as low as Rs789

Domestic carriers, including national flag carrier Air India and private sector IndiGo and SpiceJet have come out with New Year gift for flyers, offering fares as low as Rs789 for domestic routes.

The low fares by national carrier Air India and leading budget carrier IndiGo follow a general trend among domestic airlines offering deep discounts in a bid to make air travel attractive for the common man, by making it cheaper than train travel.

While some airlines have offered tickets on selected routes, some of them are valid across all channels.

IndiGo, the country's leading budget carrier, is offering one-way domestic tickets at just Rs799 on selected sectors and flights.

Tickets have to be booked by 31 December 2016 and the tickets will be valid for travel from 10 January 2017 to 15 April 2017.

SpiceJet has announced the 'Annual Sale' offer under which it is selling tickets at a starting price of Rs789 for all one-way non-stop domestic flights.

Bookings are open now and closes on 31 December 2016. The flight period is between 10 January 2017 and 15 April 2017.

Air India is offering New Year sale with one way tickets at just Rs849. The offer is applicable on one way fares which should be booked by 31 December 2016 for travelling between 15 January 2017 and 30 April 2017.

Low fare carrier AirAsia has opened it's a big sale offer from and the airline is offering domestic fares starting at Rs1,167.

Bookings are open and will end on 1 January 2017 with travel period between 19 December 2016 and 31 July 2017.

GoAir Airlines is offering domestic tickets at a starting price of Rs999 across its routes for a limited period.

Tickets are to be booked by 31 December 2016 for travel between 9 January 2017 and 15 April 2017.
