Number of domestic fliers rises 22.58% to 7.66 million in January

The number of passengers carried by domestic airlines during January 2016 rose 22.58 per cent to 7.66 million against 6.25 million during the corresponding period of the previous year, traffic data submitted by various domestic airlines showed.
SpiceJet reported the highest passenger load factor of 92.1 in January 2016, followed by GoAir at 84.9 and IndiGo at 84.7. Almost all domestic carriers reported passenger load factor above 80 with the exception of Vistara, which had a loer PLF of 74.8 during the month.
PLF for January has slightly decreased compared to previous month, primarily due to the end of tourist season.
The overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines for January 2016 has been 1.10 per cent.
JetLite 0.23 per cent, followed by Air Asia (0.50 per cent), SpiceJet (0.51 per cent) while Air Costa reported the highest cancellation rate of 11.46 per cent and Air Pegasus with 10.83 per cent.
During January 2016, a total of 823 passenger related complaints had been received by the scheduled domestic airlines. The number of complaints per 10,000 passengers carried for the month of January 2016 has been 1.1.
During January 2016, all the scheduled domestic airlines complied with the mandatory capacity deployment requirements contained in the Route Dispersal Guidelines.
