With the successful launch of its Mumbai service, privately-owned Thai carrier, Bangkok Airways, is set to spread its wings further over India with the introduction of a service between Bangkok and Indian IT hub Bangalore from September.

Bangkok Airways said it will use Airbus 319s on the Bangkok-Bangalore route.

Bangalore is known as the Silicon Valley of India due to its role as the country's leading IT exporter.

Bangkok Airways launched its Mumbai service on 2 March.

Airline officials said next destinations would be important Indian metros like Chennai and eventually the nation's capital, New Delhi.

India is becoming more of a priority market in the airline's growth strategy.
