flydubai in expansion mode
11 May 2011
Low-cost MidEast carrier, flydubai, is on track to make its first profit next year, CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith has said. Set to expand services to 40 destinations by the end of the year, flydubai may also be eyeing additional routes to the Indian sub-continent.
As part of its proactive measures to garner market share the carrier will launch its holiday packages soon.
flydubai is a United Arab Emirates airline that operates out of Dubai International Airport.
On the issue of opening more routes to India, al Ghaith refused to confirm anything saying ''We are certainly looking at going from 36 destinations to 40 by the end of 2011 but it is too early to confirm the new cities we are flying into.
''Looking at the demand and numbers, the sub-continent, the GCC, Eastern Europe and the Far East routes are all very attractive to us. Expansion into these regions is a natural progression.''
Ghaith also confirmed that the airline will increase capacity 140 per cent over last year.
