Kolkata: Dubai-based Emirates Airline will increase its weekly flight frequency to Kolkata to a total of 12 flights per week, as against the existing seven, with effect from 3 December 2009.

The new flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

On Mondays and Fridays, the flight will arrive in Kolkata at 7.15pm and take off for Dubai at 8.30pm. On the other three days, it will arrive at Kolkata at 7.40am and take off at 8.55am.

The airline is also complementing new flight launches with attractive return economy class fares to Dubai.

"With the introduction of additional flights and competitive fares, we hope to boost travel enquiries by approximately 25% to and from the city," said Orhan Abbas, vice president, India and Nepal, Emirates Airline.

Airline officials indicated that the new services were being introduced to exploit a gap created by the withdrawal of several international airlines and reduction in the frequency of service of some other operators.
