Oil PSUs cut jet fuel prices Rs331 per kilo litre
30 Apr 2009
State-run oil marketing companies today announced a marginal Rs311 per kilo litre reduction in jet fuel or aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices, in line with lower international prices of the fuel and crude oil.
Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum, after three consecutive increases over the last three fortnights, cut ATF price by Rs311 per kilo litre in Delhi to Rs31,615 per kl with effect from midnight tonight, IOC sources said.
The three PSU oil firms had raised jet fuel prices by about 6.7 per cent on 16 April after a 10 per cent hike on 1 April and a Rs158 per kl hike in the previous fortnight.
The three hikes have cumulatively raised ATF prices in the country by 17.8 per cent since 16 March 2009.
The current reduction will lower ATF prices in Mumbai, the country's busiest airport, from Rs32,854.9 per kl to Rs32,530 per kl. In Delhi, ATF prices will come down from Rs31,926.24 per kl to 31,613 per kl.
ATF prices will vary from airport to airport depending on the states they are situated and the local taxes in those states.
ATF prices, however, have more than halved from its peak rate of Rs71,028.26 per kl (in Delhi) in August when international prices of crude oil touched a historic high of $147 a barrel.
