Holidaymakers from the UK scurry to book alternative flights after LTE closure of charter flights

A number of British holidaymakers scurried to make alternative travel arrangements after Spanish leisure carrier LTE International Airways suspended flights on account of financial challenges. More UK tourists who were scheduled to fly with the Majorca-based LTE today managed to proceed with their holidays as planned after finding replacement flights.

Reports suggest that travel and leisure companies Cosmos and Thomas Cook said UK holidaymakers traveled to and from Tenerife on other airlines, though there were some changes to flight schedules, with diversions and / or altered flight timings. They cited a Thomas Cook spokesman as saying that the company was working to ''re-protect the remaining flights'' that were impacted by LTE's closure. Thomas Cook was quoted as saying that it would inform customers of changes to their flights as soon as possible.

Similarly, reports quoted a spokesperson from Cosmos a saying that passengers due to fly with LTE in the weeks to come would be contacted ''in due course'' as soon as the company makes alternative flight arrangements for them.

Spain's leisure carrier LTE International Airways has suspended flights on account of financial challenges, even though it plans to continue ACMI operations. It is hopeful of being able to resume charter flights.

A statement on the company's website said that due to its financial situation, it is difficult for LTE to meet operational expenses during the coming days, and therefore it would have to suspend its charter and scheduled operations.

LTE is owned by Italy's MyAir holding company MyWay Airlines, and operates seven Airbus A320s.
