Gati, a domestic Indian pioneer and leader in the express distribution and supply chain solutions in the country has selected Singapore as its regional headquarters. The company said that it would like to use Singapore's strategic location to expand its business activities into the fast-growing Asia region and beyond.

"Singapore is a critical logistics node within Asia that delivers integrated, cutting-edge supply chain solutions for the global market." said Ms Aw Kah Peng, assistant managing director, industry development, Singapore Economic Development Board. "We are proud to have Gati locate its regional headquarters in Singapore. Gati will add to the vibrancy and diversity of the logistics and supply chain sector in Singapore, the Asian base for the world's top 3PLs," she said.

Gati has over 4000 vehicles on road that cover 594 out of 608 districts in the country, mechantronic warehousing facilities of 1.5 million sq ft. across all major cities, which together offer a single window solution to customers.

Last year, in October, Gati launched its co-branded (Air India Gati) air cargo and courier service, which provides customers the synergies of air and surface networks. Gati has also taken the initiative to run a parcel express train between KYN (Mumbai) and NGC (Guwahati).

The parcel train, says Gati, is a classic example of a Public Private Partnership in operation.

Besides having a strong network in India, Gati also has a strong market presence in the Asia Pacific region and SAARC countries. It has offices in China, Singapore, Japan, Dubai, Hong Kong Thailand, Nepal and Sri Lanka, with plans to foray into other markets.
