Dragonair, a Hong Kong-based international airline and a Cathay Pacific subsidiary, announced it will reschedule the launch of its new service to Bengaluru International Airport (Bangalore) in India to 1 July 2008.

It said that the decision was made after taking into consideration such factors as the availability of local facilities and the amount of time needed to prepare for operations after the opening of the new Bengaluru International Airport.

The new daily service to Bengaluru, operated by an Airbus A330-300 aircraft, will mark the first time that Dragonair will be operating passenger flights to India. It said that the service will provide new opportunities for people traveling between Hong Kong and the technology capital of India, located in the south of the country.

Dragonair is an affiliate member of oneworld and a member of the Cathay Pacific Group. The airline currently operates a fleet of 15 A330-300s, six A321s and 10 A320s, in addition to four Boeing 747-200/-300 freighters and four 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighters.

The airline's passenger service and freighter network covers 34 destinations across the Asia-Pacific region, including 21 in Mainland China.
