Bangalore: Coimbatore-based, JB Aviation, has announced its intention to launch scheduled chopper services in the southern states of India.

It said that it has already acquired land for a helipad in Ooty and, pending an approval from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), will start a service to Kodaikanal with a single helicopter by September this year. It said that the DGCA was expected to conduct a second round of inspections by end of this month.

The company will simultaneously launch services from Madurai, for which land has been sanctioned by the government of Tamil Nadu. It also said that it has tied up with the government in Puducherry, where it will operate from the existing airport.

JB Aviation said it will increase its fleet strength over a period of time.
