Ankara, Turkey: Flag carrier Turkish Airlines has said it will buy 105 new planes from Boeing and Airbus. It said it has asked both Airbus and Boeing to submit proposals for 35 double-aisle and 70 single-aisle planes.

In a statement released Tuesday the airline said its passenger numbers had increased 150 per cent over the past four years, and also that it was in good financial shape despite the global economic crisis.

Turkish also said it wanted deliveries to start in the second half of 2010.
