Goodrich bags Airbus 350XWB systems contracts worth $600 million

Goodrich, a global supplier of systems and services to the aerospace and defence industries, said Wednesday that it was awarded contracts to supply air data and ice detection systems on the Airbus XWB aircraft, in a deal valued at more than $600 million spread over 20 years.
Goodrich said the work will be performed by the company's Sensors and Integrated Systems division in Burnsville, Minn. USA. "The ADS provides all critical air data parameters to the vehicle management computers for the aircraft's flight control and pilot display systems," Goodrich said, noting that its SmartProbe and SmartPort air data sensing technology "allows integration of multi-function sensing ports, pressure sensors and processing capability through the elimination of pneumatic lines."
This enables decreased weight and enhanced reliability.
"Both the air data and ice detection systems for the A350 are evolutions of the systems Goodrich provides for the Airbus A380," Goodrich SIS VP Jan Mathiesen said.
Goodrich has previously received contracts to supply the A350's nacelle and thrust reverser systems.
