Sukhoi SuperJet 100 increases tally – wins orders from “renowned” European carrier
17 Jul 2008
SuperJet International, the marketing arm of Sukhoi SuperJet 100 (SSJ100s) unveiled firm orders yesterday for 25 of these short haul aircraft. The deal includes 20 orders, valued at about $600 million, from a "renowned" European customer, which it declined to name.
SuperJet International is a 51:49 joint venture between Sukhoi and Alenia Aeronautica.
The firm also said it had inked a contract with Switzerland-based AMA Asset Management Advisers for five of these aircraft. These will be delivered in 2011.
Deliveries to the undisclosed European carrier will start in 2010 and run through 2012. The contract allows the carrier to switch from a 95-seat SSJ100 to a 78-seat version.
Francesco Guarnieri, CEO of AMA, said it has placed its SSJs with five different airlines in Europe and Asia.
The SSJ100 tally now stands at 122 firm orders.
Just yesterday it had added an order for 25 aircraft under a "heads of agreement" announced earlier this week with Russian leasing company Avialeasing. The order was valued at more than $630 million. This order is expected to be firmed up within six months.
