Pictures of UFO sighted over Gorakhpur go viral

There have been reports of UFO sightings, specifically over Uttar Pradesh, in the media in the last few days. According to the reports, which carried photos, a "flying saucer" was sighted floating above Gorakhpur, and the pictures were being studied by experts at the local university. The reports said the local populace was terrified.

According to commentators, it was a hoax for which people and especially the media should not be falling, especially not the media.

The photos of the UFO had gone viral on social media after it was reportedly caught on camera in UP on Saturday.

The UFO, a huge disc-shaped flying object, was reportedly seen hovering over Padri market in Gorakhpur.

Rumours were also doing the rounds on the web that it was the same object spotted in Lucknow and Kanpur a few months ago.

The viral pictures were clicked by a person who said the object was rotating on its own. The photos had been widely circulated on messaging apps such as WhatsApp and social networking sites, including Facebook and Twitter.

The district administration, however, dismissed the rumours, saying it was another hoax.
