Mumbai: A combination of rising fuel prices and festive season demand has already seen air fares doubling. Even as tickets to most north Indian destinations have already doubled, industry observers predict a further jump.

A one-way ticket from Mumbai to Delhi NCR is already being quoted between Rs6,000 and Rs11,000, almost double the normal base rate of Rs3,000 upwards. A Mumbai-Jaipur ticket for the weekend just before Diwali is being quoted at Rs8,000.

Prices have doubled inspite of the fact that there are at least 50 flights between Mumbai and Delhi.

Kolkata is another costly ticket ranging between Rs8,000-Rs20,000, while Mumbai-Lucknow fare is now priced anywhere between Rs9,000-16,000. Kolkota route does have some availability at Rs8,000 but for preferred timings the tickets are already priced for Rs15,000 onwards.
