Bangkok: Thailand's low-cost carrier, Nok Air, announced on Wednesday the launch of the world's first 'Shopper's Airline' flight between Bangkok and Bangalore. Starting Thursday, Nok Air will operate daily flights from Bangkok to Bangalore, which will also be the first such service in the world to use the 'Shopper's Airline' marketing concept, according to airline executives.

The daily service will also be the first international route for Nok Air, an affiliate of the national carrier Thai Airways International (THAI). The airline will use a Boeing 737-400, on the route with a capacity of 150 seats.

'Together with the first international flight, we are launching the first in the world concept of the 'Shopper's Airline,' bringing those who enjoy shopping for quality to Bangkok for the exclusive discounts available only for Nok Air passengers,' said the airline's chief executive officer, Patee Sarasin. 'Nok Air is not only making flying simpler and easier, but also adding value and making it fun for everyone,' he said.

To launch this innovative concept, the budget airline has joined hands with Thailand's The Mall Group, which operates some of Bangkok's most popular department stores, such as The Emporium, Siam Paragon and The Mall, in offering its passengers from Bangalore exclusive shopping discounts of up to 50 per cent.
