India-US to host aviation summit next week

The summit, due to begin Monday next, has been organized by the country's civil aviation ministry and the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).
"The objective of the US-India Aviation Partnership Summit is to generate discussions between US and Indian aviation sector regarding industry growth and opportunities and challenges," according to an official release here.
The summit would try to address among other issues, air traffic management, airspace utilisation and bilateral collaboration in airborne systems, it said.
Besides, it would seek to promote trade and provide exposure to technical, managerial and strategic planning approaches as India was adopting integrated and automated air traffic control and management systems, the release said.
These systems would focus on safety, capacity, efficiency and security management for future air transport systems.
"Moreover, the summit would help build long-term strategic and commercial relationship between the US and Indian aviation sectors," it said.
The key issues to be discussed during the three-day summit include balancing aviation safety and growth, modernisation strategies for airports, air traffic management, airline management, next generation air transportation systems and financial solutions to meet the needs of growing aviation market, it said.
Besides, civil aviation ministry and USTDA others co-sponsoring the summit include, AAI, DGCA, US Federal Aviation Administration and the MITRE Corporation.
