Hyderabad: Singapore Airlines (SA) on Thursday announced special fares out of Hyderabad to key destinations in Australia. The special fare is available up to May 4 and is valid for outbound travel till June 15, 2007. The Australian destinations covered under the offer are Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.

According to the airline, return economy class tickets, per person, for a minimum of two people traveling together, will now be available at Rs26,500 to Rs27,000 depending on the destination, which is a discount of up to 16 per cent on the current return economy fares. This, however, does not include taxes and surcharges, which, on an average, will amount to an additional Rs10,000.

But the airline is offering certain facilities along with the new fare structure. According to SA general manager, India, CW Foo, this includes a free stopover at Singapore while flying in and out of any of the destinations, as well as availing boarding pass privileges to get discounts on shopping, dining and entertainment, tourist attractions and transport services.

In addition, attractive offers are available in select outlets at Singapore Changi Airport.

According to Foo, Australia has become a very popular destination among Indians and the offer was in tune with SA's current focus on promoting leisure travel. Foo also mentioned that India was one of the top 10 contributing countries to SA's revenues, and that the airline was mulling plans to increase the number of its flights to India.

In this regard he mentioned that SA's subsidiary regional airline, SilkAir, was planning to operate a flight to Coimbatore towards the end of the year.

Currently, SA operates 49 weekly flights to eight destinations in India. These include two daily flights to Mumbai, daily flights to Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore, four weekly to Kolkata and Hyderabad and three weekly to Ahmedabad and Amritsar.
