CAPA report: Choked Asian airports urgently need investments
20 Mar 2007
Industry consultants, Sydney-based Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA), have said in a report that airports in Asia are operating at close to full capacity and urgent investment is needed for upgrading existing infrastructure.
According to CAPA, the problem is particularly acute in the fast-growing markets of India, China, Indonesia and Vietnam. CAPA says that these countries are driving the region's booming demand in air travel.
The CAPA report says that problems are not confined to infrastructure at airports, but also to increasing traffic congestion. It says that urgent attention needs to be given to measures that will relieve congestion at traffic hot spots, particularly in the Pearl Delta and Yangtze River delta regions in China.
