Mumbai airport handles record 20 million passengers over April 2006-Feb ‘07

Mumbai: Mumbai airport, India's busiest, handled over 20 million passengers over the past 11 months, marking an increase of 21.28 per cent over 2005-06 figures of 17.6 million.

Passenger traffic, for the period April 2006-February 2007, saw the airport handling a record total of 13.56 million domestic and 6.73 million international air passengers.

Also, the airport handled a record 1.8 lakh landings and take-offs during this period. With eight airlines launching new operations into and from the city, the airport handled 45,996 international flights, an increase of 4,377 flights over the previous year.

Passenger traffic was at an all time high of 2.15 million in January this year; marginally up from 2.14 million in December 2006. It dipped to 1.91 million in February, however.
