Action Aviation to open shop in Bangalore
14 Feb 2007
Bangalore: UK-based aircraft distributor Action Aviation is all set to open shop in Bangalore with a sales and marketing office. Offices in Mumbai and Delhi will follow the Bangalore operation by early 2008.
According to company officials, with the civil aviation market in the country growing at over 20 per cent annually, it intends to target sales of over $60 million in 2007 itself. A bulk of the sales would come from the sale of MD helicopters, while the balance is expected to emerge from the sale of the SJ30 business jets.
Action already has confirmed orders for three MD helicopters. While air-taxi operators have bought two, a leading business house has picked up the third. The company refused to divulge the names of its customers. According to officials, the company also expects to sell close to five SJ30 business jets.
According to industry sources, Action Aviation may have tied up with Tata Power (aviation division), to service MD helicopters out of Juhu Airport, Mumbai, while talks are on with a Mumbai-based outfit for a dedicated maintenance facility for the SJ30 business jets.
