Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Ajit Singh's son-in-law Vikramaditya Singh has been sentenced to six months of home confinement by a US court. A federal sting operation caught him selling military grade microwave radios to Iran.

Singh (34), an Arizona-based electronics dealer, was under investigation by agents of US Homeland Security in Philadelphia following a sting involving Iranian arms broker Amir Ardebili.

According to sources close to RLD supremo Ajit Singh, Vikramaditya Singh was unaware of end-user agreement requirement for sale of the equipment in question.

Vikramaditya Singh owns Delaware-based Orion Telecom Networks.

District chief judge Gregory M Sleet awarded the sentence sending Vikramaditya Singh of Fountain Hills, Arizona, to three years' probation.

The sentence includes a period of six months' of home confinement, in addition to a $100,000 fine for exporting items he believed were destined to Iran. The sentence means Singh is likely to be deported this year.
