Tata Capital appoints Akhil Awasthi as Managing Partner for its Mid-Market Fund

Mumbai: Tata Capital, a subsidiary of Tata Sons today announced the appointment of Akhil Awasthi as managing partner of its mid-market private equity fund.

He was, till recently, a partner with Baring Private Equity Partners (India) where he built the healthcare practice and created a portfolio of four successful investments.

Awasthi has around 20 years of experience in private equity, listed equity and banking, having funded both Indian and foreign incorporated businesses across industries such as technology, life sciences and consumer businesses.

Private equity is one of the key business verticals identified by Tata Capital as a part of its growth strategy, and it plans to launch a series of funds in the following months of which the first is the mid-market fund. Some of the other intended funds include an innovation fund, a healthcare fund and a special situations investments fund.
