MakeMyTrip co-founder Sachin Bhatia recognised as India Youth Icon for Technology
Sachin Bhatia, co-founder, MakeMyTrip.com, has been recognised as India Youth Icon for Technology by the inaugural India Youth Icon Awards, a Wizcraft initiative in association with Sahara India Media. The awards recognise outstanding achievement across categories, including entertainment, entrepreneurship, sports, arts, media, social justice, politics and technology.
Sabbas Joseph, director, Wizcraft International who along with Videocon sponsored the event, said, ''We believe that the youth will take us forward into the next century. It is essential that their icons be those with determination, courage and aspiration. Instituting the Videocon India Youth Icon Awards is a step in that direction. It's an endeavour to identify and honour such commendable individuals.''
The nominees were decided by a panel, which included Shyam Benegal, Shabana Azmi, Dr Kiran Bedi, Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, Leander Paes, Dr Naresh Trehan, Usha Uthup and Venugopal Dhoot. Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was recognised as India Youth Icon for Entertainment under the female category, while Rahul Gandhi, general secretary, Congress, was named as India Youth Icon of the Year.
