ISRO's two launch vehicles, Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and Geo Synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV), have three fuel stages. To start with HAL will start supplying integrated strap on motors.

"Presently we buy the items and integrate them. But with the slew of launch programmes and with two launch vehicles sourcing integrated components has become imperative. If that happens we can double our vehicle production," adds Perumal.

Apart from the stage systems, ISRO is also on the process of finalisation of vendors who would supply fully assembled rocket guidance sets. "There are around 1.2 lakh components to assemble around 120 guidance systems," he remarks.
