Bethany Sherman joins Nasdaq

New York: The Nasdaq Stock Market (www.nasdaq.com) has announced the appointment of Bethany Sherman as senior vice president of corporate communications. Sherman will lead the market's worldwide public relations and corporate communications efforts, including media relations and employee communications. She reports to Denise Benou Stires, executive vice president of global marketing and investor services.

Sherman joins Nasdaq from Middleberg Euro RSCG, a New York City-based public relations agency, where she was a principal and chief client services officer. Her responsibilities included client retention and client service, new business development and strategic programming. She represented clients including Island ECN, Datek Online, Reuters, www.cbsmarketwatch.com, the Dreyfus Corporation and Sybase.

"We are excited that Bethany Sherman has joined Nasdaq to lead our worldwide public relations team," says Benou Stires. "Bethany is an immensely talented individual whose strengths in media and communications are apparent to all who have had the privilege of working with her."

Prior to joining Middleberg in 1992, Sherman worked with a Connecticut-based marketing communications firm, where she was responsible for public relations for the agency's business-to-business clients. Sherman holds a degree in English from Boston College. She is a member of the Financial Women's Association and sits on the organisation's marketing committee.
