Mahindra plans resorts in Kufri, TN

Chennai: Holiday resorts major Mahindra Holidays and Resorts, a subsidiary of Mahindra and Mahindra, is looking at traditional tourist hot spots like Kufri in Himachal Pradesh and a couple of destinations in Tamil Nadu. "Nothing has been finalised yet," says Club Mahindra head (marketing) Vijay Srinivasan.

Despite the economic gloom and the pink slips that it generated, the company has seen a 40 per cent growth in its membership this year. "We have a total membership of 14,000 as against 10,000 at the end of last fiscal," says Srinivasan. "Half of the new memberships have come from referrals from existing members. We have an attractive incentive scheme for members who give referrals."

Club Mahindra is planning to hold cub carnivals for members children in various cities. The first one was organised in Chennai and Srinivasan says Bangalore and Hyderabad are the next locations.

The Club Mahindra Cub Carnival organised by the event management company Whizart is a daylong event consisting of games, food stalls, talent competitions, pottery painting, mehndi, tattoo, story-telling, shadow plays and film shows in the evening. "This is part of our belief in continuing an ongoing dialogue with the member community to deliver experiences that enrich and enliven our lives," says Srinivasan.
