Micromax launches Canvas 5 Lite through Snapdeal at Rs6,499

Micromax, India's top smart phone maker has launched the Canvas 5 Lite Special Edition, which has a price tag of Rs6,499 and is exclusively available on e-market place Snapdeal.

Micromax, which claims to be the second-largest mobile maker in India and 10th largest in the world, today introduced the Canvas 5 Lite, which comes with a leather back and a metal body, as per the company.

The Canvas 5 Lite sports a 5 inch HD IPS display and comes with 4G LTE capabilities. With 2GB DDR3 RAM, a 1 GHz MediaTek quad core processor and a 2,000 mAh battery, it promises to be a performance gadget.

The phone has an 8 megapixel auto focus rear camera and a 5 megapixel fixed focus front camera. It has 16 GB of internal storage, but has no expandable storage slot.

The Micromax Canvas 5 Lite has WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, an FM radio, 3.5 mm jack and dual SIM.

The launch of the Canvas 5 lite is the latest milestone in our resolve to offer the best products at competitive price points," Shubhajit Sen, chief marketing officer of Micromax Informatics, said.

"The rapid smartphone category evolution is constantly reshaping the preference of young urban consumers. They now expect top-of-line performance, 4G connectivity along with premium, modern styling in the budget Smartphone segment. We developed Canvas 5 Lite as a no compromise, All-in-one phone - for the festive season," he added.

Micromax had launched the Canvas 5 Lite Special Edition in August. The Special Edition, which is now retailing at Rs7,799, has almost the same specs except a bit higher 3 GB RAM and an expandable storage slot of 32 GB capacity.

The new Micromax Canvas 5 Lite though will face a tough competition from Redmi 3S and the likes.

The entry level market for Android smartphone is being swarmed by a number of manufacturers but Micromax has been able to retain its share of the market over the years. The company has ranked among top three of the country's top five mobile phone makers.
