Mumbai: Local information provider asklaila has diversified its portfolio to provide local search engine services to mobile phone users.

Currently this service is available to Reliance and Vodafone subscribers, in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai. The company plans to introduce the service in other cities soon.

The Four Interactive-owned company stated that asklaila's mobile search facility would allow consumers to easily search for information using their GPRS active mobile phones.

To get a desired result for a particular search query, users simply need to send a text message to 58989, which will be answered within moments.

The service can also be accessed through any internet enabled mobile phone at the company websire asklaila.com.

The mobile search facility is optimised for the mobile user and features user-specific options such as proximity search, syntax-free search option, attribute tagged search and address compression option for more results in less keyed words in SMSs and many more standard options.

Four Interactive was setup in December 2006, with an initial funding by Matrix Partners India. In September 2007, it closed a $10 million round of series B funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners; also joined by SVB India Capital and Matrix Partners India.

Four Interactive is focused on building easy to use services that are at the intersection of the mobile, content and the online world for Indian consumers. The company's mission is to connect consumers with local businesses.

Four Interactive is co-founded by Shriram Adukoorie, the former country manager for MSN South Asia, entrepreneur Kiran Konduri, who has co-founded and managed two startups Zephyr Software and Cogniti and racing enthusiast and techie Bal Krishan Birla.
