Nalco, NPCIL in JV for N-power plants

Mumbai: Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) and National Aluminium Company (Nalco) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for setting up nuclear plants in the country. Under terms of understanding Nalco will, along with NPCIL, jointly invest in the sector as part of its strategy to diversify into commercial generation of electricity through nuclear power plants.

The MoU was signed by NPCIL chairman and managing director SK Jain and Nalco chairman and managing director AK Srivastava, a press release issued here stated.

NPCIL is a central public sector undertaking under the administrative control of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and is involved in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of nuclear power plants for the generation of electricity.

Nalco is a central PSU under the administrative control of the ministry of mines, which has more than 25-years of experience in mining, alumina refining, power generation and aluminium smelting.
