IA, Jet hike special scheme fares

New Delhi: Indian Airlines (IA) and Jet Airways (Jet) on Monday announced a hike of about 10 per cent in fares applicable under the Apex and Everyone Can Fly schemes. The revised fares come into effect from December 1.

IA officials said that all tickets issued on or after November 16 for travel starting on or after December 1 will be at the revised Apex fares. However, all tickets issued on or before November 15 will be accepted for travel at the existing fares till March 31, 2003. But travel should be completed on or before March 31, 2003.

From December 1, travel by IA under the Apex scheme between Delhi and Trivandrum will cost Rs 7,170, while travel between Kolkata and Hyderabad will cost Rs 3,130 and a one-way trip between Kolkata and Bangalore will cost Rs 3,935.

Jet announced a hike of about 10 per cent in fares under the Everyone Can Fly scheme. In a statement, Jet said that fares under the scheme would go up by about 10 per cent on all sectors except Kolkata-Guwahati-Kolkata from December 1. IA also said that there would be no fare revision in the Kolkata-Guwahati sector.

From December 1 a passenger travelling under the `Everyone Can Fly' scheme will have to pay Rs 3,895 for travel between Delhi-Hyderabad, Rs 3,695 for travel between Delhi and Mumbai and Rs 4,025 for travel between Delhi and Chennai. Similarly, a one-way flight between Hyderabad-Mumbai will cost Rs 2,760.

To avail of these special fares passengers are required to book their tickets at least 15 days in advance and carry a bona fide identity card while travelling. Jet currently offers the scheme on 48 sectors.
