India''s first television 3D serial Mayavi will be dubbed in Mandarin
and Korean languages for telecast overseas. Produced
by G V Films Limited, Mayavi received the jury''s special award at Seoul
Global TV Drama Awards, South Korea, last month. The serial is also the first
Indian entry to be on the award list. There
were 130 entries in 20 categories out which 34 were short listed for nominations.
Mayavi is one of the three serials that won the special prize. "The
award has attracted couple of Chinese and Korean channels. We have been approached
by them for dubbing rights," V Ravee, CEO, told the media here Thursday. The
26 episode television serial was first telecast by Jaya TV evoked good viewer
response. As
3D programmes are to be viewed through a special glass, Jaya TV and G V Films
efficiently completed the daunting task of distributing around 90 lakh special
spectacles priced at Rs.6. Now
Kairali TV shows Mayavi dubbed in Malayalam and negotiations with a Telugu
channel for dubbing in that language are over. In addition talks are to telecast
in other languages like Marathi, Gujarathi, Rajasthani, Bengali and Hindi over
a leading national channel. According
to A Venkatramani, director, the dubbed serial would earn around Rs40 million
for G V Films. He also said the company plans to build Mayavi into a brand like
007 and produce movies and TV serials.
