EC Media launches e-book reader Wink

Bangalore-based EC Media International today announced the launch of its e-book reader, Wink XTS, a multi-functional e-reader that supports up to fifteen Indian languages.
 
Consumers can access e-books, journals, newspapers, magazines (through subscriptions) and selected articles on the Wink e-store. EC Media also plans to launch an e-paper, Winkwire, for its users.

Wink has enrolled leading publishers like Penguin, Roli, Oxford University, Harper Collins and Permanent Black and many other publishers for content. It has also tied up with Redington as its distribution partner.

"With the launch of Wink, we want to enable the growth of content provisioning through the electronic medium by leveraging its existing eco-system of global partnerships with publishers and aggregators," Pradeep Palazhi, COO, EC Media, said during the launch.

Wink is supported by the DC Books Group headquartered at Kottayam, Kerala, India's first ISO certified publishing house.

Electronic mega store Croma will be the retail partner for Wink.

EC Media International was founded in 2009 with the vision of delivering cost-effective electronic book reader for the India market that would allow content reading in English and all Indian languages.
