Realty firm DLF today deposited Rs100 crore with the Supreme Court registry as part of the Rs630 crore penalty imposed on it by the Competition Commission of India for alleged one-sided contracts imposed on flat buyers in Gurgaon.

DLF had earlier deposited Rs50 crore and today's payment takes the amount the real estate giant had deposited with the SC registry to Rs150 crore.

Senior counsel Harish Salve told the apex court bench headed by Justice Anil R Dave that by depositing Rs100 crore the company wants to establish its bona fides, even as he sought adjournment of the hearing till Friday.

Salve also produced before the court a cheque of Rs100 crore.

A three-judge bench of justices Anil R Dave, NV Ramana and R Banumathi allowed DLF to pay the amount of Rs100 crore following an application by the company.

DLF moved the apex court last week seeking a waiver of the remaining penalty, citing financial difficulty. The CCI had in 2011 imposed a Rs630 crore penalty on DLF for abusing its dominant position with respect to three projects in Gurgaon.

DLF had denied cheating flat buyers and had vowed to defend itself in a court of law.
