India keen on Russian construction contracts: Envoy

Moscow: Indian ambassador to Russia Kanwal Sibal said that Indian firms were keen to enter Russia''s lucrative construction business, particularly to build hotels and other amenities in the Black Sea resort, Sochi.

Russia won the bid to host winter Olympics in 2014 at Sochi during the International Olympic Committee session in Guatemala City earlier this month. The Russian government has allocated $13 billion for preparations.

Speaking at a business meeting during his visit to Krasnodar in South Russia, Sibal said that Indian business were also keen to participate in the Olympic preparations of Sochi.

Sibal also said that Indian carriers wanted to be granted stopover rights for their European flights.
