Cement companies maintain strong growth in March

Cement sector continues to be on a roll as major companies maintained their double digit growth in production and despatches for the month of March 2006. Growth rates are in the high double digits, even on a month-on-month basis, when compared to February 2006 figures.
Despatch figures for the major companies are:

For the full year 2005-06, despatches by the Aditya Birla Cement companies (Ultratech, Grasim and Shri Digvijay) were 8.85 per cent higher, at 28.59 million tonnes, while production at 28.58 million tonnes was higher by 8.78 per cent, when compared to the previous year.
Total despatches by ACC for 2005-06, at 17.94 million tonnes, were the highest ever annual despatch figures for the company.
