Areva T&D bags Rs40-crore contract from Reliance Power solar power project

According to French firm Areva's Indian arm, Areva T&D it had bagged a contract from Reliance Power for the execution of a solar power project in Rajasthan.

Areva T&D India's transmission business, now part of Alstom Grid, had been awarded a Rs40-crore contract by Reliance Power for design and construction of the 350-MW Doorsar solar power plant in Rajasthan, the company said in a statement.

The scope of works under the turnkey contract includes  the design and construction of the sub-station, transformers, control, protection, monitoring systems and civil works at the plant.

Areva T&D India Limited managing director Rathin Basu said, Areva T&D India was proud to partner with Reliance Power in the prestigious project and offer its sub-station for the country's largest solar power plant.

On 7 June, 2010, the global operations of Areva T&D were acquired by a consortium of Alstom and Schneider Electric.

With the acquisition, high voltage transmission and power electronics activities have come under the control of Alstom and medium voltage activities controlled by Schneider Electric.

However, Areva T&D India would continue operations under the Areva T&D name until the completion of the due judicial process for separation of the businesses, according to Indian regulations.
